The Felt Road is honored to partner with s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ: House of Welcome for installations, community events, a presentation series, and workshops through June 30, 2026. These collaborative and exploratory events strive to share felt-making traditions with the House of Welcome communities and to help raise awareness and visitation to the House of Welcome and all it offers the community, region and country.
This program is partially funded by an Inspire Olympia grant in partnership with s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ: House of Welcome, The Evergreen State College Campus, Olympia, WA.
UPCOMING/ONGOING EVENTS:
July 15, 2025 - June 30, 2026 - Homage to The Forests Installation located at s'gwi gwi ʔ altxw House of Welcome.
April 2, 2026 - A Glimpse Into Animal Intelligence lecture by Pam McClusky (SAM Senior Curator of African and Oceanic Art) at Traditions Fair Trade.
June 19-28, 2026 - Introduction To The Ancient Art of Felting workshop by Janice Arnold at s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ: House of Welcome: Fiber Studio.
PAST EVENTS:
July 31, 2025 - Artist Talk + Installation for Homage to The Forests at s'gwi gwi ʔ altxw House of Welcome.
August 9, 2025 - Wool Exploration Day at the Hands On Children’s Museum, where more than 100 children and parents learned about wool and felt through making 3-dimensional felted Earth Globes, which they got to take home. Felt Alphabet Squares were also made at this event and added to the museum’s collection of letters kids and parents can play with when they visit.
August 20 & 27, 2025 - Stitching The Felt Roads: An Interactive Experience in Wool and Felt at the Evergreen Gallery.
