Week 2, Aug 25-29: Open studio hours with JA's support
The Felt Road is honored to partner with s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ for an intensive workhop focused on Central Asian Indigenous Nomadic Feltmaking.This collaborative and exploratory class, guided by Janice Arnold and The Felt Road team, honors Indigenous felting traditions and not only offers a solid foundation for understanding this ancient art form but also how to explore it as an expressive and functional material.
Week 1) Origins, science, history, and learning the basic traditional skills; evolving your art practice through inspiration, research and exploration;
Week 2) Open studio will put skills to practice to explore, collaborate, create and refine a project of your choice.
Location: s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ: House of Welcome, Fiber Art Studio, Indigenous Arts Campus, Olympia, WA
Open to: All skill levels. This is a comprehensive class that requires no prior felting experience, and equally appropriate for artists of other mediums hoping to deepen their textile understanding or skills.
