Explorations In Traditional & Contemporary Feltmaking Showcase

Join us at the Paimārire Fiber Arts Studio on June 28, from 5:30 to 7:30, for a peek into the sample works we've created during our workshop, Explorations in Traditional and Contemporary Feltmaking. This immersive workshop is the first of its kind and the culmination of The Felt Road's year-long collaboration with the s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ House of Welcome.

This group of dedicated students has created a rich body of sample work and documentation, learning the basics of feltmaking as both a traditional craft and a contemporary art form. We'd love for you to come see their sample pieces and celebrate these first steps in learning the language of wool.

We also warmly invite you to honor the space with us — to take in the history and tradition of the Paimārire Fiber Arts Studio at the s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ House of Welcome, a place where Indigenous fiber arts and community come together. In this spirit, the workshop stands as a celebration of the ways Indigenous cultures around the world connect with one another and their greater communities through fiber, art, and craft.

Samples and documentation will be out for viewing and conversation, and light refreshments will be served. We hope you'll join us for good company and a little merriment!
